As you have likely discerned by now, this is a website by and for fans of the Decemberists. We welcome everyone from old school Portland natives who bore witness to their very first shows, to newbies who only recently had their worlds blown apart upon first hearing the Tain, and everyone in between! Decemberism is a safe space for discussion of the band’s music and various side projects and happenings, introduction to fellow fans, coordinating show meetups and rides, even sharing fan art (please no erotic fanfic though… that would be weird. This isn’t Twitter/X).

Our congregation came about as an offshoot of the beloved /Orate message board formerly hosted on the Decemberists website. Once a hive of buzzing fan activity, participation began to dwindle over the years and a decision was made to archive the board and shut it down. But believing there was still a great interest out in internet land for a community of Decemberheads, your humble admins (or Matriarchs, as you will hear them called) Missy, Cassie and Drea decided to give it a go. And here we are.
